We manage Which?’s overarching relationship with policymakers, working directly with people in Government and Parliament to make Britain a safer, fairer place to be a consumer. We help communicate our specialist policy and insights to the right people whether that’s through convening events, working on legislation or advocating for wider consumer policy reforms. Which? has a long, proud history of delivering for consumers, with Public Affairs at the heart of making change happen.
We've worked on a lot of legislation over the last 18 months; advocating and engaging on key Bills that update important product security, digital markets and financial services laws. Our Parliamentary work on the Financial Services & Markets Act led to key Bill amendments guaranteeing consumers will have reasonable access to free-to-use cash provisions.
Our Team comes from different walks of life. Some hold degrees in Politics, Economics or Communications, while an apprentice we took on became a full time Officer. Colleagues have worked as a nightclub manager, sushi chef and nursery teacher before joining the world of Public Affairs. As well as having the ability to understand the political landscape, being amicable and trustworthy are helpful. An important soft skill you can have is horizon scanning: proactively looking ahead to the future and understanding how Which? as an organisation can react to political change most effectively.
