About the role

Which? was created in 1957 to empower and inform consumers. Our founders wanted to make the average shopper in the street just as powerful as the companies they bought their goods and services from - and we've been fighting your corner ever since. Again and again, we've achieved major campaigning victories, changing the direction of governments and industries.

From lead-free paint in children's toys in the '60s, seat belts in cars in the '80s, and more recently securing major changes to tackle fraud and deceptive pricing, our campaigning has been leading the fight for consumer protection for sixty years. Now you have the chance to play a pivotal role in our success!

As Senior Campaigns Manager you will lead and manage the Campaigns team at Which?, ensuring we develop and implement high quality and effective campaign strategies that achieve substantial changes for consumers. The team sits alongside the Public Affairs and External Affairs teams to influence and engage our target audiences - politicians, officials, and businesses. You will work very closely with colleagues in our policy, communications, supporters, content, and legal teams to deliver our campaign goals, working collaboratively across teams to manage strategies to achieve change

In the last few months alone, our campaigning successes have included:

  • Changing the law to better protect victims of bank transfer fraud.
  • Securing commitment from the Government to help consumers better understand food prices and action from a major supermarket to provide more budget ranges in their small stores.
  • Changes to eligibility for loyalty cards
  • Legislation to require major online platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google, to remove harmful content, including scams and fraud, from their websites.
  • A commitment from government to legislate to stop ticket touts from fleecing fans.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a high performing team, including fostering an inclusive culture, supporting the development, engagement and performance of your team to deliver excellent results in line with our organisational objectives and requirements.
  • Foster good relationships across the organisation and ensure the campaigns team works collaboratively with colleagues responsible for tactical delivery.

About you:

We're looking for someone ambitious, with a demonstrable track record in proactively delivering campaigns to achieve change in legislation, policy, and business practice. You will need an excellent understanding of the political landscape and news context to help inform our approach and identify opportunities. You will be skilled in managing a team, to help them to deliver to a high standard, and to work collaboratively with others to ensure colleagues across the whole organisation are delivering our campaign goals.
