About the role

We are looking for candidates with experience working in user research or within a similar research role. You might be at the early stages of your user research career, or be transitioning into user research from another discipline where there are some clear transferable skills and experience.

As part of the Product Design and User Research team you'll help put our customers at the heart of everything we do. We have been improving how we approach user research and experimentation across our product squads, helping our teams to understand customer needs and pain points. In this role you'll be supported by Senior User Researchers and will work closely with our multidisciplinary product squads, running research initiatives and embedding insights into their decision making processes.

A key part of the transformation process at Which? is embracing modern user-centred product development practices, enabling us to deliver better products faster. We are looking for colleagues that are proactive and take ownership of their work – helping accelerate our journey to become a more effective Product Design and User Research team.

OUR STAFF USER RESEARCHER, RICHARD WILLIAMS, HAS CREATED THIS SHORT VIDEO TO PROVIDE FURTHER INSIGHTS INTO THE ROLE.

What do we expect?

We are specifically looking for people who have the following:

  • Curious and proactive mindset: You will be supporting multiple strands of work, from research ops to running research initiatives and will constantly be looking for ways to improve our processes. We want someone who is willing to learn and grow their skills, within a supportive environment.
  • Collaborative by default: You will be working with multidisciplinary squads focussed on specific domains with specific outcomes, and it is key for you to work together to develop insights that help them to achieve those outcomes.
  • Evidence based and impact-focussed: You will always have our users in mind, and ensure that any features or changes proposed are based on insights.
  • Communicative and organised: You will be willing and able to communicate insights to team members and stakeholders. You will also take an active role in the day to day operations of the practice and accompanying admin tasks.

What kind of work might I do?

  • Support user research initiatives from planning to delivery, utilising various user research methods appropriate to the brief.
  • Use research to help product squads to understand the people they are designing for – including their needs, motivations, expectations and goals.
  • Work with squad members to bring relevant insights together with commercial goals to support product development, and communicate those insights effectively using compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrate the value of user research – taking a collaborative, iterative approach with team members and stakeholders.
  • Support the broader User Research function – taking an active role in the day to day operations of the practice and accompanying admin tasks.
  • Actively engage in learning new research methodologies or techniques based on project or business needs and personal development goals.
