This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working (2 days in the office, including Mondays), 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and a fantastic pension scheme offering 6% in year one and 11% after this.

Salary £42,000 - £47,000 per annum

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days in the office, including Mondays)

This role is being offered on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract

About the role

We are looking for an experienced external affairs professional to join our Advocacy department. This role is responsible for planning and delivering external stakeholder engagement projects on key cross organisational priority areas, helping to ensure that Which? is well positioned with businesses, officials, and other key stakeholder audiences; lead relevant External Affairs related engagement and team process projects and support the Senior External Affairs Manager, as required.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop, deliver, and manage effective proactive plans to influence stakeholders, to position Which? favourably, and to enable us to meet our organisational objectives.
  • Provide market intelligence and key insight on lead areas to other teams at Which? on corporate, regulatory or government developments and horizon scan for future influencing and collaboration opportunities.
  • Lead projects to improve External Affairs team processes e.g. CRM (stakeholder management) system, business engagement strategies, shared filing system etc.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of existing proactive business engagement tactics to extend our reach with key audiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Advocacy and other Departments to identify opportunities including advising on best practice for influencing business audiences, and understand and exploit synergies with Which? commercial activities.

About you:

Key skills needed to succeed in this role include:

  • Strong communication skills including at a senior level, with the ability to communicate complex research, policy or ideas to a variety of different audiences.
  • Experience of developing and delivering stakeholder engagement plans, at senior level and deploying a range of techniques to cultivate a good network of relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Good relationship building and networking skills internally (including at a senior level) and externally.
  • A good understanding of consumer policy issues including within a wider current affairs and political context, and ability to grasp complex subjects and identify possible points of contention or conflict

The interview process for this role involves:-

  • One 40 minute interview with line manager and other senior colleague, including a task
