This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working (London), 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and a fantastic pension scheme offering 6% in year one and 11% after this.

Salary: £65,000 – £67,500 per annum

Location: London/Hybrid with 1-2 days in the office per week (Every Thursday mandatory) 

This role is being offered on a 10-12 months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity cover) 

About the Role

Are you an experienced user researcher ready for a new challenge? 

It's a particularly exciting time for Which?, as we work towards our 2030 strategy. The needs of our users are right at the heart of everything we do, and as a Staff User Researcher, you'll play an important role in shaping the future of how we make life simpler, fairer and safer for consumers. 

This role involves both research and leadership (supporting others, advocating for the discipline, building relationships and influencing decisions). You'll be part of the Product Design and User Research team, within the Product, Data and Tech department, and will work across product squads in a fast-paced, agile environment to deliver research that has tangible impact for the business and for users. You'll also play an important role in developing user research practice at Which?

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Being the go-to user researcher for several squads, responsible for research strategy on those squads, and ensuring the quality of user research conducted.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders around the organisation to ensure that research efforts are clearly tied to decision making and laddered up to organisational strategy. 
  • Planning, conducting and analysing strategic research using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify user motivations, needs, behaviours, and frustrations. 
  • Presenting compelling and clear insights that enable good, timely decisions.
  • Coaching and mentoring product designers, content leads and product managers to conduct high quality evaluative research at pace.
  • Playing an important role in building the research operations capabilities of the user research team (e.g. playbooks, tools, templates, knowledge management, participant recruitment and ethics).

About you

  • Lead and define strategic user research initiatives across several squads - using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to deliver high quality, timely research, at pace.
  • Lead user research from planning to delivery, including defining the brief, recruitment and scheduling, facilitating methods and analysing data. 
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to understand business needs, make sure they have what they need to make decisions based on insight. 
  • Build clear and actionable insights, tell compelling stories, and influence decisions at the right time, with the right insight.
  • Support other user researchers, and other people who conduct user research, with coaching, mentoring, peer review and quality assurance.
